Police have launched a manhunt after expensive watches and bank cards were stolen from gym lockers across the City of London.

The thief, who is not a gym member, is believed to have used the cards soon after the thefts in food stores and a bar in the City.

Investigating officers have released a photo of a man they want to speak to.

They are urging members of the public to come forward if they know the man or where he is.

Detective Sergeant Neil Shanley, of City of London Police, said: “This man has continuously and deliberately targeted lockers in City gyms.

“The bank cards he steals are then used before the victims even have chance to notice they’re gone or to cancel them.

“It is essential that people use a high quality padlock on their gym lockers and make their valuables difficult to see or get to should someone gain access.

“We would advise people to always report suspicious activity to a member of staff.

“If you recognise the man in the image, please get in touch. Information that you provide could be significant to our investigation.”

If you can help the investigation, please contact the City of London Police by calling 020 7601 2222. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
