Police hunt suspect after stabbing in Nottingham street during middle of the day

A man is in hospital after a report of a stabbing in Nottingham during the middle of the day.

Officers remained at the scene on St Stephen's Road, Sneinton on patrols and are looking for a suspect with a description released.

The force were called to Sneinton at around 1.10pm on Friday May 7 following a report of the attack.

It was reported a man with a knife ran from the scene towards Newark Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital in an ambulance and his injuries have been described as not life altering or life threatening.

Detective Inspector Kayne Rukas of Nottinghamshire Police is leading the investigation and is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

He said: "Just one knife offence can have devastating impacts on so many people which is why Nottinghamshire Police continues to work tirelessly all year round to tackle knife crime, reduce violence and take positive action to keep our communities safe.

"The attack happened in broad daylight and we know there were a number of people in the area at the time."

DI Rukas added: “We take all reports of knife crime extremely seriously and our enquiries are moving at pace to trace the suspect.

"The suspect has been described as black, with dreadlocks and is around 5'9'' tall.

“I would like to reassure the local community that officers were quickly on the scene to ensure that there was no risk to the wider public. They will remain in the area to offer community reassurance and actively searching for the suspect.

"If anyone saw anything suspicious in the area to contact the force immediately. If you have any information please call 101, quoting incident 320 of 7 May 2021, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
