Police hunt 'snarling out-of-control' dogs as young mum savaged and man left in fear

A man was left fearing for his life and a young mum had to go to hospital after two "snarling" dogs went on a rampage and attacked them.

Police are now hunting for the "out-of-control" dogs, thought to be Staffordshire bull terriers, and their owners in Fenton, Staffordshire.

One man said he was "almost mauled to death" by the pets in Six Crowns Woods, yesterday afternoon (October 4).

And a young mum in her 20s needed hospital treatment after being bitten on the leg by one of the dogs in nearby Fenpark Road at around 1.40pm.

Officers investigating the attack in Fenton confirmed that neither of the dogs - one black and the other brown - were wearing leads or collars at the time, reports Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Sharing details of his ordeal on Facebook, the male victim wrote: "So I’ve just nearly been mauled to death by two dogs. Took a short cut through Six Crowns Woods after the gym to be approached by two medium dogs circling me and biting my shins (no owner in sight).

"I don’t think I’ve ever feared for my life. If anyone knows who the owners are could you please let me know before someone or someone’s pet gets killed."

The other victim added: "I was bit by the brown one, on my leg. The police have been informed. Luckily I picked my daughter up just in time else it would have been her face."

Staffordshire Police are now carrying out inquiries into the attacks. A spokesman said: "We were called at 1.40pm on Tuesday to Fenpark Road in Fenton following reports of a loose dog.

"A woman, in her 20s, told officers she had been bitten by a brown dog that was running loose in the park with another dog, which was black. The victim took herself to hospital for treatment of a minor leg injury.

"The dogs are described as the Staffordshire bull terrier breed. Neither dog were wearing a collar or lead. Officers are making inquiries at the scene to order to trace the owner."

Anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101 quoting incident 344 of October 4.
