Police on Skye have launched an appeal on social media for information after a vandal caused damage to a container at the Fairy Pools car park.

Posting #WhoisAlly on Facebook and Twitter, the Highlands & Islands Police Division wrote that the incident occurred at the site in Glen Brittle some time between 28 and 30 April.

The vandal appeared to have tagged their name at the site. (Police Scotland)

The post features a picture of a tag left behind the suspect which features the name 'Ally' in black marker ink.

The Fairy Pools, which are located near Glenbrittle at the foot of the  Black Cuillin Mountains, are fast becoming a worldwide attraction with thousands visiting the vividly coloured, clear waters every year.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers in Skye were made aware of an attempted theft and damage to a container in Fairy Pools car park sometime between Tuesday, 28 and Thursday, 30 April, 2020.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”

Police are asking anybody with any information to contact officers on 101, or if they wish to remain anonymous, to call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
