Police hunt sex attacker 'wearing fox tail' who assaulted woman outside Tate Modern

A sex attacker who assaulted a woman while wearing what looked like a fox tail is being hunted by police.

The man tried to pull down a woman's trousers before trying to pick her up, as she walked by the art gallery last month, according to police.

Two members of the public rushed to help the woman and the attacker "calmly walked away".

Scotland Yard has released a detailed description of the offender.

He is said to be tall, white and in his 30s, with long blonde hair, possibly styled in a ponytail.

He wore navy cargo trousers and a dark top, while he had an animal tail, similar to a fox's, sticking out from his back pocket or attached to the back of his trousers, police said.

In a Scotland Yard appeal, Detective Constable Nick Heywood said: “Thankfully the woman targeted by the suspect was not physically harmed, but this assault has nonetheless and unsurprisingly left her shaken.

“I am confident the suspect would have stood out at that time of day in an area predominantly populated by workers from local businesses who were on their lunch break."

Officers are also keen to speak to the couple who assisted the woman, described as Spanish speaking and aged in their 50s.

The man had short greyish hair and wore glasses while the woman had short, curly hair.

The incident, which took place at the Holland Street and Summer Street junction in Southwarkon July 15, is believed to be isolated and there have been no arrests as yet, with enquiries ongoing.

Anyone with information that may assist is asked to contact officers on the Central South Command Unit on 101 and quote CAD 4034/15Jul or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
