Police hunt reckless driver who nearly ran over cop in closed A1 lane - then failed to stop

Police are hunting a driver who nearly struck an officer on the A1 in East Lothian and then failed to stop.

The incident took place shortly before 11pm on Friday (18 December) on the A1 heading southbound, just prior to the Wallyford slip road.

Officers had been assisting with a broken down vehicle and had closed one lane while they dealt with the incident.

However, this didn't stop a reckless driver from colliding with police cones and almost hitting the police vehicle and officer who were standing in the closed lane.

The vehicle then failed to stop for police and continued south on the A1.

Police are now looking for the driver of the dark coloured vehicle, which is believed to be a Nissan Note.
