Police hunt ‘Piccadilly line’ knife-wielding phone robbery gang

Five of the suspects being hunted by detectives - (British Transport Police)

Detectives are hunting a knife-wielding robbery gang terrorising commuters on London Underground’s Piccadilly line.

British Transport Police released CCTV images after two offences within 24 hours in the capital.

A boy aged 17 and a 19-year-old man were on a Tube train leaving Covent Garden when they were assaulted just before 11pm on June 14.

They were shown a knife and the youngest robbed of his belongings, though he was able to recover some items.

The following day, at around 5.15pm on a service at Dollis Hill, the same five-strong group pulled a knife on a man who was robbed of his phone.

A spokesman said: “Detectives would like to speak to those pictured as they believe they may have information that would help their investigation.”

Anyone who recognises them is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 538 of 15 July or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
