Police hunt owner of £396,000 cannabis farm

A huge cannabis farm worth around £396,000 was uncovered by police at a property in Whiston yesterday.

Merseyside Police raided a property on Walpole Avenue yesterday afternoon finding 99 cannabis plants and growing equipment.

The force said the raids came on the back of community concerns around the property.

A spokesman said: "The electricity meter to the property had been tampered with which presents a safety risk.

"We are currently working with the energy provider to make the power supply safe again.

"We would like to reassure residents that there is no cause for concern whilst the issue is resolved."

The force said a 40-year-old man from Whiston has been arrested on suspicion of cannabis production and abstracting electricity.
