Police hunt masked thug who robbed Viewpark newsagent

Police were this week hunting a man who robbed a Viewpark newsagent at the weekend.

At around 7.30pm on Sunday (March 1)  evening, a man entered M&E Skelton newsagent on Old Edinburgh Road, Viewpark.

He threatened the female member of staff with a knife and demanded items from the shop. He then made off with cigarettes, alcohol and a quantity of cash.

The member of staff was uninjured but badly shaken as a result of the robbery.

The man responsible is described as around 6ft in height and of slim build. He was wearing black clothing and had his face covered with a black balaclava. He was carrying a bright coloured carrier bag.

Detective Constable David Duers at Wishaw Police Office is appealing for information.

He said: “This is a busy area and I am urging anyone who was in Old Edinburgh Road in Viewpark on Sunday evening, who witnessed anything suspicious to contact Wishaw Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3466 of 1st March. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
