Police are hunting a masked gunman who shot a woman in the leg as she walked her dog.
The victim was out in Manchester when a man in a balaclava got out of a Fiat 500 and fired a weapon, detectives say.
She was hit in the back of the leg as she tried to flee in the "targeted" attack, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The woman was in the Cheetham Hill area of the city when the incident happened, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said.
The shooting is not linked to a dispute between two local crime groups or a nearby stabbing on the same day, the force added.

The victim, 30, was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound not thought to be life-threatening.
GMP said that the car was being driven by a second man and was later dumped in Crumpsall, an area less than two miles away.
The force said: "At around 6.30pm on Tuesday 9 March, police were called by hospital staff to a report of a woman presenting with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her leg.
"The woman - aged 30 - remains in a stable condition in hospital as she continues with her recovery.
"Initial enquiries suggest the incident took place shortly before 6pm near Olanyian Drive and was a targeted attack.
"It is understood the woman was walking her dog on Olanyian Drive when a man wearing a balaclava got out of a dark Fiat 500 and fired a single shot from a handgun in the back of the victim’s leg as she ran away.
"Two men are then believed to have made off in the car towards Bury New Road.

"A car matching the description of the offending vehicle has since been recovered by police after being found abandoned on Dinorwic Close, Crumpsall, at around 6pm.
"No arrests have been made and a scene remains in place on Olanyian Drive and part of Everside Drive while a number of lines of enquiry remain ongoing."
Detective Inspector Charlotte Quinn added: "This is a shocking incident where a woman was deliberately targeted as she walked down the street, and I would like to reassure the community we have a team working meticulously to identify those involved."

Police say the dispute behind the incident is not linked to an 18-month feud between two crime groups in Cheetham Hill and a third from Broughton, Salford.
It is also not connected to a stabbing in Salford a day earlier on nearby Albert Road, Broughton, the force added.
A boy, 15, was injured in that incident after a group of youths began fighting with knives during the afternoon.
