Police hunt man who attacked woman in Giffnock street

Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted by a man in Giffnock .

The 21-year old was attacked at the Muirend Pavilion in the East Renfrewshire suburb at around 7pm on Tuesday night.

Police say that she was walking on the path leading from Whitton Drive to the pavilion when she was attacked.

He ran off immediately after the assault.

The man has been described as being between 18 and 22-years-old, about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build, sallow completion and spoke with a Glaswegian accent.

He was wearing glasses, a dark coloured waterproof jacket, jeans and was spotted carrying a rucksack at the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Craig Stewart of Giffnock CID said: “The Muirend Pavilion is a busy place on week nights with both football and rugby training sessions taking place there. I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of the pavilion to help us identify the following man who we want to speak to in relation to this attack.

“Anyone who can help should call the CID at Giffnock on the 101 number, and quote the reference number 3250 of January 7. Anyone who wishes to pass on information and remain anonymous can do so by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
