Police hunt man after rucksack with £1,000 in cash is stolen from King's Cross station

Police have released this image - (BTP)

Police have launched an investigation after a rucksack with £1,000 in cash was stolen from King’s Cross station.

Just after midday on Friday June 5, a passenger boarded a train at the station and placed their rucksack in the luggage rack before taking their seat.

While the train was still at the station, a man got onboard, grabbed the bag and left.

Inside the rucksack was almost £1,000 in cash, Ray Ban Smart sunglasses worth £300 and a mobile phone worth £250 along with bank cards and other personal items.

British Transport Police have now released a CCTV image of a man they think could have information that may assist their investigation.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 2600073302.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
