Police hunt man after female member of train crew sexually assaulted

Hunt: Police want to speak to this man (Picture: BTP)

Police are hunting a suspect after he allegedly sexually assaulted a train worker on a Virgin Train travelling from Stoke-on-Trent to Manchester Piccadilly.

The suspect approached the female train crew member when she was in the staff-only area at the front of the train.

She advised him that the toilets were on the other side of the coach but was then sexually assaulted by him, British Transport Police said.

Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A BTP spokesman said: “On 10 November at approximately 10.40am, the member of staff was in the staff only area at the front of the train when she was approached by a man.

“She advised him that the toilets were at the other side of the coach, but was then sexually assaulted by him.

“Officers believe the man in CCTV images may have information which could help them investigate.”

Anyone with information is asked to call BTP by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 302 of 10/11/18.

Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
