Police hunt kebab thief who made pals with two women in pub before pinching their grub

Police are hunting a thief who made pals with two women on a night out in  Musselburgh before stealing their kebabs.

Maggie Khanuja was raging when she realised the man had made off with her takeaway food in East Lothian's"honest toun" during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Maggie and a friend were on a night-out to The Sportsman, High Street and began chatting to a 'middle-aged, bald man', reports Edinburgh Live.

At the end of the night, Maggie went to get some kebabs for herself and her friend from a takeaway across the street.

Maggie had been out with her friend in The Sportsman (Google)

She briefly left them on a chair to speak to her friend outside, but when she returned the kebabs were gone.

Police have confirmed they are looking into the theft of two kebabs from the High Street.

Maggie said: "I went for a few drinks with my girlfriend as moral support as she had been going through a rough time recently.

"We went to the Sportsman in Musselburgh where her stepdad was having a few drinks with his sister.

"It was her first night out in the Honest Town - Musselburgh.

"I spent a few minutes talking to a middle-aged bald guy. Just before midnight I went across the road and picked up a few kebabs.

"I then left them on the chair then joined my friend outside, that's when I realised the kebab was gone!

"This middle-aged bald guy took our kebabs!

"Seriously... how low can you can get?

"Luckily girls from the pub knew him and said he will be barred. Police were also informed.

"Such a waste of police time and resources but sorry, its principle."

She added: "Who would do that? In the Honest Town?"

Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of two kebabs being stolen from a premises on the High Street in Musselburgh around 1am on Sunday, 26 January, 2020.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
