Detectives are hunting burglars who stole diamond, sapphire and gold jewellery during a high-value raid in north London.

Criminals struck when the female homeowner went out for the evening and they left the scene before she arrived home in Fitzwarren Gardens, Highgate.

The burglary took place between 11am on September 16 and 2am on September 17.

Metropolitan Police officers released an image of three stolen rings and urged anyone offered second hand jewellery for sale through unconventional means to contact them immediately.
