Police are hunting a violent burglary gang wanted for at least five “frightening” break-ins across north London.

The gang armed with screwdrivers and a crowbar have robbed people of cash, jewellery and phones after forcing their way into homes in Enfield.

The men, described as white with Irish accents, use cleaning fluid to spray on floors and door handles to destroy potential forensic evidence.

Five men were involved in the first burglary on April 11 in Dimsdale Drive and the most recent took place on April 30 when four men wearing bandanas forced their way into an address on Great Cambridge Road.

There they poured cleaning fluid onto the victims, some of which went into the eyes of a woman though she did not require hospital treatment. The suspects left in a black Mercedes car.

Detective Inspector Paul Ridley, from North Area policing, said: “These are very frightening attacks against people of all ages who were confronted in their homes by a group of armed men. They have stolen a large quantity of property from the victims and were not afraid to use violence.

“We need to catch the culprits. If you were passing the area or perhaps in traffic nearby and saw anything suspicious, we would like to hear from you.”

He said all the victims were targeted for high value gold jewellery.

Anyone with information is asked to call North Area CID via 101 quoting Operation Panamera.
