Police hunt for woman with German Shepherd after man's arm horribly mauled by dog

Police are hunting for a woman after her dog bit a man and left him with serious injuries.

The man suffered puncture wounds and a deep laceration to his arm and had to visit Scunthorpe General Hospital for treatment after he was bitten by the dog.

Humberside Police say the man was walking along a grassy area in Queensway when the attack happened on Sunday, July 4, at around 6.30pm.

The man says he reported that he heard the woman calling her dog back to heel and when he turned around the dog jumped up and bit him on the arm, leaving him with the injuries.

Police say they want to speak to the woman, who the man says offered him her details at the time.

She has been described as around 5ft 9ins, of a large build.

The woman is said to have had her hair tied back in a ponytail and was wearing dark clothing and carrying the dog’s lead.

A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said: “We are appealing for the owner of a German Shepherd dog to contact us after an incident on the Queensway in Scunthorpe on Sunday 4 July at around 6.30pm.

“A man was walking along a grassed area of Queensway when he reported that he heard a woman calling her dog back to heal.

"He then turn around and the dog jumped up and bit his arm. The man sustained puncture wounds and a deep laceration which required hospital treatment.

“The owner, a woman, is described as around 5ft 9ins tall of large build with her hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing dark clothing and was carrying the dog’s lead.

“The victim was in shock and did not take the details that the woman offered at the time of the incident.”
