Police hunt for two motorbikes spotted near scene of gunshots in street

Officers investigating a firearms discharge in Tranmere have released CCTV stills of two motorbikes they would like to trace in relation to the incident.

Shots were fired on Victoria Fields at around 6.30pm on Friday, July 12, with Merseyside Police called out to the scene around an hour later.

Bullet casings were found on the residential street, but officers could not find any evidence of damage or injuries in the area.

More than two weeks after the street was sealed off following reports of shots fired, the force have released CCTV images of two bikes which were seen in the area at the time.

An appeal shared with the ECHO , police said the bikes were last seen heading along Woodchurch Road, near the Halfway House public house, towards Arrowe Park.

Detective Inspector Laura Lamping said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around Victoria Fields, who may have seen these bikes, or know the riders or passengers to contact us.

“I would also ask any taxi drivers, or motorists, who were in the area and who captured the bikes on dash cam footage to get in touch as they may have information which is vital to our investigation."

She added: “Firearms incidents in Wirral continue to be rare. I want to reassure the community that we will act on all information to find the person responsible, however you choose to pass the information on, but stand with us and help us keep your area safe.

“Call us directly, or via the charity Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of the police, and what you tell us will be handled with sensitivity.”
