Police hunt for trio after man robbed in central London for £6,000 Rolex watch

Police are hunting for three men after a man was robbed for his Rolex watch in central London.

The 60-year-old victim was walking from Chancery Lane Tube station when he was approached by two men who asked him for directions to Tottenham Court Road.

He walked off after giving directions, but was suddenly grabbed from behind around his neck. Another man then snatched his phone from his hand.

The victim was able to grab his phone back, and threw it down onto the street to prevent the suspects taking it, before shouting for help.

One of the suspects then pulled the man's Rolex watch, worth approximately £6,000, from his wrist, shouting “I’ve got it” as they fled, alongside a third man.

A passer-by helped the victim before police searched the area, but the suspects could not be found.

The victim suffered minor injuries after the incident, but was not seriously harmed.

Police have released CCTV images of three men they wish to speak with.

They said the victim was walking from Chancery Lane Tube station into Brownlow Street and then onto Bedford Row when he was approached.

Detective Constable Alejandra Gomez, from the Central North Command Unit, who is investigating the crime said: “It appears that two of the suspects approached the victim while the third acted as a lookout. All three are then believed to have fled – possibly via Holborn tube station.

“We have released CCTV images and footage of three men we would like to speak to in connection with the incident and urge anyone who recognises them to contact us immediately.

"Any jewellers who have been approached with the offer of a Rolex watch model 116710BLNR, and are unable to account for how they came to obtain it, are also urged to contact police.”
