Police hunt for thug who punched woman then stole her Range Rover

Police are appealing for information after a woman was punched before having her Range Rover stolen in Hyde.

Officers were called to reports that a woman in her 40s had been threatened by a man on Beeches End at around 12.40pm on Wednesday, July 10.

The man had demanded she hand over the keys to her black Range Rover Evoque.

He then grabbed the woman and punched her.

The man drove off in her car before crashing half a mile away on Cartwright Street before fleeing.

Police said the man was around 20, 5ft 7 to 5ft 10, of medium build with black hair, which was shaven at the sides, and blue eyes.

Police are now appealing for anyone with any information to come forward.

Detective Constable Chris Oldham, from GMP’s Tameside District, said: “The woman was left understandably shaken by the assault and it is only by good fortune that she was not more seriously injured.

“If you saw her being threatened and assaulted on Beeches End, saw the black Range Rover Evoque being driven away or witnessed it crashing on nearby Cartwright Street, please get in touch and help us catch the person responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 9262, quoting incident number 1556 of Jult 10.

Reports can also be made via Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
