Police hunt for man who torched car on Lanarkshire street

Police are hunting for a man who set fire to a car parked in a Coatbridge street.

The incident, which is being treated as "wilful fire-raising", took place at around 8pm last night on the town's Bankhead Avenue.

A black Mercedes 4x4 was torched by a male suspect who was "dressed in dark clothing".

Detective David Williamson, of Lanarkshire CID, told Lanarkshire Live: “Thankfully the fires were safely extinguished and there were no injuries as a result.

“We are appealing to anyone with information on the incident and to any motorists in the area at that time that may have dash-cam footage.

“If you believe you can assist our investigation, call 101, quoting Incident number 3382 of October 26.

"Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
