Police charge man who allegedly resisted arrest in Perth's south

WA Police charged Laemin Forbes with a string of offences after he allegedly resisted arrest on Thursday. (ABC News: Keane Bourke)

Police have charged a man who allegedly resisted arrest and led officers on a foot chase through Perth's south on Thursday morning.

In a statement, WA Police said they attended a property on Canning Highway, in Como, at 7:20am where they attempted to arrest Laemin Forbes, 40, as part of an "ongoing investigation".

Mr Forbes allegedly resisted and broke free of police officers, jumping through a closed window.

Officers said they chased Mr Forbes through surrounding streets on foot, including through a number of houses.

Police allege a woman in her 80s — who was walking on the footpath — was grabbed and thrown to the ground by Mr Forbes, hitting her head and requiring assessment in hospital.

The 40-year-old allegedly then entered a home and grabbed a handbag from another woman in her 80s, before stealing her vehicle.

The car was found about 2:30pm on Thursday bogged in bushland in Huntingdale.

In a statement, police said Mr Forbes was arrested late on Friday night.

He faces a string of charges including stealing, assault and aggravated robbery.

Mr Forbes appeared in Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday.

He was remanded in custody to appear in court again on June 25.
