Police hunt for driver after VW Golf abandoned following crash with Mercedes

Police are hunting for a driver who ran away from the scene following a crash at a busy junction in Harpurhey.

The driver of the VW Golf abandoned their car after smashing with a Mercedes on Queens Road at the junction with Rochdale Road.

Their were no injuries reported following the crash, which happened just after 8pm on Tuesday evening.

A GMP spokesman confirmed that officers were searching the VW Golf for evidence following the incident.

He said: "We were called at 8.05pm to reports of a collision between two cars - a VW Golf and a Mercedes.

"Officers are at the scene at the moment. The Golf was left at the scene."

The wing mirror of the car was left hanging on by a thread, while the front wheels of the car were torn from the vehicle.
