Detectives are hunting for an Asian-inspired Gucci messenger bag in connection with the fatal stabbing in south London.

Tyler Roye, 24, was allegedly murdered in a "brutal and frenzied" attack on February 26 after his Bengal GG bag, worth £640, was stolen in Croyden.

Met Police have issued a statement appealing for help from the public to trace the luxury item.

The messenger has an eye-catching 3D print of a Bengal tiger and green plants printed over the Gucci logo and comes from the fashion house's Cruise 2017 line.

On the day of the incident, officers were called to the Arena tram stop just after midnight.

Tyler was found with stab wounds and died from his injuries in hospital after surgery at 2.46am.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as stab wounds to the chest.

A Met Police spokesman said: "The bag is distinctive in style, of the Gucci brand, in a ‘Bengal tiger’ print.

"Officers are very keen to hear from anyone who has recently acquired a bag like this, or has been offered one for sale.

"If you have any information at all relating to the whereabouts of this bag, or one like it, or any information relating to this incident please call the incident room."

Sam Odupitan, 23, of Longheath Gardens, Croydon, has been charged with Mr Roye’s murder as well as with two counts of robbery. He remains in custody.
