Police hunt for attacker who stabbed man in the neck

Police have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses and information after a 30-year-old man was stabbed in Mansfield.

It comes after a 22-year-old man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident has since been released with no further action.

Officers were called to Kitchener Drive at around 5.40pm on Sunday June 14.

The victim suffered a stab wound to the neck and was taken to hospital.

His injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, according to Nottinghamshire Police.

Detective Inspector Kim Binns, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We’re treating this incident very seriously, with around 20 detectives working hard on the investigation and who are following up numerous lines of enquiry including forensic examinations, CCTV and house-to-house enquiries.

“In addition to that we have uniformed officers who are actively seeking to trace those responsible for this serious incident and who remain on patrol in the area where this happened to provide reassurance to local residents.

“We’re keen to speak to anyone who hasn’t yet come forward and who might have information which could help us with our investigation.

“Did you see anything unusual or suspicious in the area around the time of this incident? Any information you have, no matter how small, could be really crucial to our enquiries.

“We’d also appeal to anyone who may have recorded dash cam footage relating to the incident to please get in touch.

“Our officers were quickly in the area following this report and I’d like reassure the public that we are working tirelessly to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

"Nottinghamshire Police is committed to tackling knife crime, both through education and enforcement, and will investigate all reports thoroughly."

The force added they believe the attack was an isolated incident and have stepped up patrols in the area.

DI Binns added: “We’re urging anyone who witnessed the assault or who has any information that could help us to better understand the circumstances of this incident to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 624 of 14 June 2020, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
