Police hunt for attacker who dragged teenage boy along East Kilbride street

Police in East Kilbride are appealing for information after a 15-year-old boy was dragged along the street by the neck.

The unprovoked assault took place at approximately 3pm on Saturday near to Westwood Hill.

Thankfully, the boy was unhurt in the worrying incident but police say he was left “very shaken by the ordeal”.

PC Lucie Black said: “The boy was walking near to Westwood Hill when he was approached by a male who grabbed him round the neck and pulled him forcefully along the road whilst verbally abusing him.

“The suspect then let the victim go at which time he ran off and contacted his parents, who came to his assistance.

“The suspect was then seen to shout and make threatening gestures towards other members of the public.

“He is described as around 6ft 3in tall, with a bald head and wearing a Celtic top and green trainers.”

Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect or who witnessed the incident is asked to contact police at EK on 101 quoting incident number 2684 of 22nd June.
