Police hunt for attacker after man seriously assaulted outside pub

Police are appealing for help to trace anyone who saw a serious assault in Linwood in the early hours of this morning.

The incident happened outside the Clippens Inn on Clippens Road in the town between 12 midnight and 1am.

A man was injured in what police believe was a targeted attack. It is understood the two men had a minor altercation inside the Linwood pub earlier in the evening and this continued outside.

The 38-year-old victim received cuts to his hand and face and police are treating the attack as a serious assault.

A passer-by took the victim to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

The attacker is described as a white Scottish male who was wearing a black bubble jacket.

DC David McIntosh of Paisley CID is leading the investigation. He said: “We are currently making on-going enquiries into the CCTV footage of the incident.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the pub earlier in the evening or anyone who was outside and saw the incident.”

Anyone who can help is urged to ring the non-emergency police line on 101.
