Police hunt eight in connection with 'large-scale disturbance' in Govan

Police Scotland have released images of eight people they want to speak to in connection with a 'large-scale disturbance' in Govan.

They believe those pictured will be able to help them with their investigation into an incident which took place on Friday, August 30.

It comes after the force announced a "robust" inquiry into riots which unfolded at an Irish unity march in the area that day.

Police said the planned demonstration, organised by the James Connolly Republican Flute Band, was met by hundreds of "disruptive" counter demonstrators on Govan Road.

Riot police, mounted officers, a force helicopter and dog units were used to quell "significant disorder".

Anyone with information about the identities of the individuals in the images is asked contact police at Govan via telephone on 101, and quote incident number 2772 of 30 August 2019, or e-mail the dedicated mailbox address: OperationPindot@scotland.pnn.police.uk, or call the incident room at Govan on 0141 532 5442.

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
