Police hunt drug gang member who absconded from Castle Huntly

Police are hunting a member of a jailed drugs gang who failed to return to prison from home leave.

Andrew Weir, 32, from the West Lothian area, has absconded from Castle Huntly , near Dundee.

Police Scotland say the prisoner has connections in the Bathgate and wider West Lothian area and appealed for information on his whereabouts on Saturday.

A force spokeswoman said: "Weir is an inmate at HMP Castle Huntly, Dundee, and has breached the conditions of his home leave.

"If seen, members of the public should not approach him."

Weir was one of four men jailed for running a drug operation worth thousands of pounds in West Lothian.

He was convicted alongside Neil Scott, Ryan Ingleston and Andrew Raven at Edinburgh High Court in 2016 after more than £150,000 worth of class A and B drugs were recovered.

Weir was sentenced to five years and 10 months.

He is 5ft 7in with a medium build with short, dark hair.

Weir was last seen he was wearing a grey tracksuit top and bottoms and grey trainers.

He was also carrying a black holdall.
