Police are appealing for information after a car deliberately drove in to the gates of a car park in York Road off Lancaster Avenue, Airdrie, on Wednesday, December 22.

Around 10 pm, a grey Citroen C5 deliberately reversed a number of times in to the gates before becoming stuck on one of the bollards. The driver, only described as white and wearing grey jogging bottoms, ran off towards Lancaster Avenue.

The gates were significantly damaged.

Detective Constable Derek Wilson, Coatbridge CID, said: "Officers have been reviewing CCTV and from enquiries so far, we know that there were a number of cars outside the takeaway adjacent where the vandalism took place. We would ask those people, especially if they have any dash-cam footage around that time, to get in touch with police.

"We have yet to establish the reason for the vandalism and so anyone with information about it is encouraged to contact police.

"Information can be passed to Coatbridge CID via 101 quoting reference number 3351 of Wednesday, 22 December, 2021. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
