Police hunt 'cruel' Scots care home thugs who robbed cash as residents slept

Police are appealing for information after three 'cruel' raids on care homes - while residents slept inside.

The break-ins, which took place between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, netted the crooks responsible a three-figure sum of cash.

Officers in Inverness are now appealing for information on the incidents, which took place at homes in the city's Culduthel Road, Kinmylies Way and Scorguie Avenue, between June 2 and 3.

Police said a care home on Culduthel Road was also targeted. (Google)

The robber left the Scorguie Avenue care home empty handed, but their raids on the other two premises resulted in a £700 haul.

Detective Sergeant Graeme Johnstone of Inverness CID said: "Targeting care homes in this way is a particularly cruel act and extensive enquiries are ongoing to identify whoever is responsible.

"We believe all three incidents are linked and enquiries have established that a grey Audi S5 car was seen in each area overnight.

"We would urge anyone who may have seen this vehicle, who has dashcam footage or any other information which may help enquiries, to come forward as soon as possible." Anyone with any information can call 101, quoting incident 0040 of Wednesday, June 3, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
