Police hunt criminals who stole disabled driver's car in Ayrshire

Police are investigating this week after a car belonging to a disabled driver was stolen from outside a house in Bellsbank.

Officers say that a Ford Kuga, a Motability vehicle, was taken from outside a property in Merrick Drive on Saturday, May 8.

Thankfully, the vehicle was recovered in Springside, North Ayrshire, on Sunday, May 9.

However, police want to hear from anyone who may have seen the car – or who has any information regarding the theft – to get in touch at Kilmarnock police station via 101, quoting reference number 0905 of the 8th May 2021.

Sgt Deans, of the Divisional Violence Reduction Unit (DVRU), said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information in relation to this incident and would urge residents within Springside with CCTV to check their footage and to please contact police with information that would assist our enquiries."

He added: "We would also urge anyone who was travelling between Bellsbank to Springside on May 9 to check their dashcam footage and contact police with any information to assist with enquiries.

"Anyone who may have seen anything is also encouraged to get in touch."
