Police hunt creep who followed three women in Paisley on same night

Police in Paisley are appealing for information after a report of a man following a woman near to the town centre.

Around 11.35pm on Saturday, August 14 officers received a report where a man approached a woman in Springbank Road.

The man engaged the woman in conversation and followed her for a short time. A member of the public assisted the lady and the man ran off. The incident caused the young woman considerable distress.

Police enquiries into the incident have established two other women were also approached and followed in the town centre the same evening. Officers are asking these women to contact them. This would have been between the hours of 10.55pm and 11.15pm.

The man is described as white, around 5 ft. 10 inches, in his mid-20s, with short dark hair. He was wearing dark coloured jeans, a dark coloured T-shirt and a long-sleeved white or cream coloured jacket.

Additional patrols are ongoing in the area following the incident to offer reassurance to members of the public. Anyone with concerns can approach these officers.

Detective Constable Kate Wason said: “I am appealing to members of the public who were in the town centre that day to think back and consider if they saw this man or if they noticed anything odd or suspicious. Even if you think your information isn’t relevant, please do pass it on as it could prove vital in our ongoing investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0012 of August. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
