A 'chunky' thug who punched a young woman unconscious in a 'cowardly and savage' attack near a bar is being hunted by police.
The attack happened close to Bar 256 on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield, police said.
The woman, who is aged in her 20s, was walking along the road in the early hours when she was approached by a man and attacked.
Police said she was punched in the face, causing her to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.
Greater Manchester Police revealed she suffered a broken nose and a fractured jaw.
Her injuries required extensive hospital treatment and surgery.
A force spokesman said: "The investigation team has described the incident as a cowardly and savage attack on a young woman.
"They have asked that anyone who saw anything, or potentially has dash cam footage of the assault, to please get in touch."

The attack happened at around 3.30am on Saturday, July 13.
Details have only just been released to the Manchester Evening News by police.
The force said the man was described by the victim, who hasn't been named, as approximately 6ft tall and of a 'chunky' build.
He had a shaven head and was aged around 30-35 years-old.
The spokesman added: "He was wearing a black jacket with a white top underneath.
"Anyone with any information about the assault should contact police on 0161 856 4722 quoting incident number 1978 of 13 July 2019.
"Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
No further details have been released and the woman is understood to be recovering.
