Police hunt 'beer belly burglar' who broke into warehouse to steal crate of lager

Police are hunting a 'beer-bellied' robber who broke into a wine warehouse - to steal a crate of lager.

The man was described as having a "bit of belly showing" by police who say he went straight for the beer during the raid.

The podgy suspect was caught on camera wearing a balaclava as he forced the doors open by pushing a motorbike into the glass.

He got his arm in far enough to steal a case of Corona beer, before leaving the bike on the ground and walking off with the beer under his arm.

The theft took place on Thursday at around 3am at the Morrisons Daily and Wine Warehouse store in St Saviour on the Channel Island of Jersey.

States of Jersey Police said: "A man forced the Wine Warehouse store doors open by pushing a motorbike that was parked nearby into the glass and then physically pushing and pulling on the damaged doors.

"The man had a bit of a belly showing under his coat, he was wearing smart shoes and trousers and had a double-breasted type coat, with a wide collar, buttoned up.

"The coat sleeves looked a bit too long for him. He was also wearing a pair of leather gloves and a "balaclava" over his head.

Police urged anyone with information about the burglary to contact the force on 01534 612612.
