Police hunt bag-snatcher who mugged woman in Paisley

Cops are hunting a brutal bag-snatcher who mugged a woman in Paisley.

The brute struck early on Saturday when he sneaked up behind a 32-year-old woman who was walking in the town's Wellmeadow Street.

Police said the victim was in Wellmeadow Street, near to its junction with Castle Street, when she was approached from behind by a man who made a grab for her purse.

During a struggle, both the man and woman fell to the ground before he made off with her property along Castle Street.

The suspect is described as white, tall, slim build, grey hooded jumper on with hood up and grey tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Constable Nicole McNairn, Paisley CID, is investigating the robbery.

She said: "Thankfully the woman was not injured during this attack, however, she is shaken and shocked by the incident.

"The street had passing vehicles and pedestrian traffic at the time of the offence, I am urging anyone who witnessed the incident or witnessed the male running off afterwards to come forward."

Anyone with information is urged to contact police in Paisley on their 101 non emergency contact number.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
