Police hunt axe-wielding yob who threatened man in Johnstone street

Cops are hunting a thug who threatened a man with an axe in a Johnstone street.

The 25-year-old victim was in the town’s William Street when he was confronted by the weapon-wielding brute before he jumped in a car a sped off.

Police are now probing the shocking incident, which happened around 4.45pm.

It’s understood the victim was not hurt but has been left badly shaken.

A Police Scotland spokesman appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: “A 25-year-old man was approached and threatened by another man who was in possession of an axe in William Street, Johnstone, on Tuesday evening.

“The suspect then left the scene in a car.

“If you saw this incident or have any information in relation to it please get in touch with officers.”
