Police hunt arsonist after family's West Lothian store 'deliberately' set on fire

Detectives have issued an urgent appeal for information after a fire, which was set "deliberately", has ripped through a family-owned West Lothian store.

A member of the public discovered the blaze at Eliburn Mini Market in Jackson Place, Livingston, at around 2.20am on Tuesday morning (5 May).

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, along with local police officers rushed to the scene but it was too late.

While no one was injured in the fire, the inferno has destroyed the shop which has been left with extensive damage.

Police are now looking to track down those responsible for the fire and are urging anyone with information to get in touch immediately.

Detective Sergeant Graham Garvie from Livingston Police Office said:  “This fire was set deliberately and we are working to track down whoever is responsible for this crime.

“We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and we will be viewing CCTV footage from in and around Jackson Place to gather more information.
