Police hunt after biker flees scene of crash and passenger rushed to hospital seriously injured in Edinburgh

Police are hunting for witnesses to a crash which left a passenger seriously injured.

The white and red scramble-type motorcycle careered into a central pedestrian island on Colinton Mains Drive, Edinburgh on Friday night.

Emergency services raced to the scene when the alarm was raised at around 10.40pm.

The driver of the motorcycle fled, towards the nearby Tesco Superstore where they turned right.

The passenger was rushed Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

Enquiries are on-going, as officers appeal for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to get in touch.

Sergeant Andrew Trotter said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have information and who has not already come forward to do so.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, anyone who may have dashcam footage or anyone who has seen the motorcycle around the time of the incident to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 4495 of February 21.
