Police hope to find missing Melbourne woman Elisa Curry alive

Police searching for missing Melbourne woman Elisa Curry at Aireys Inlet, on Victoria's Surf Coast, say they are keeping an open mind about the investigation and are looking into whether her disappearance could be suspicious.

Ms Curry has been missing for four days and was last seen at her holiday house by a neighbour who had spent several hours with her on Saturday evening.

Her family was in Melbourne watching the AFL grand final, and when they arrived at the holiday house to meet her on Sunday morning she was gone.

Her phone was missing and the family dog was found roaming the streets.

Police said Ms Curry, a marathon runner who had been known to run to Lorne and back — a total distance of about 40 kilometres — may have gone for a run on Sunday morning.

But with no CCTV, phone or witnesses, Victoria Police Inspector Peter Seel said it was difficult to know what happened.

"We're hopeful that she is alive, we're looking for a live person at the moment," he said.

"Obviously as time goes on it's less likely that she's alive."

He said they had conducted extensive searches over a 20 kilometre radius since Sunday with the help of the SES, Parks Victoria and other divisions of Victoria Police.

They also looked at beaches and caves along the beaches using a drone to fly over the area.

"We're keeping our options open," he said.

"There's many possibilities. I mean she could've gone for a run and injured herself. She could've become disorientated and lost.

"It could be suspicious circumstances. At this stage there's no evidence to suggest that but [we can't rule it out] and the local detectives are definitely looking into that side of things."

The search today will concentrate on trail heads, car parks and bluffs in the area.

Inspector Seel said they would make a decision on further searches at the end of the day.

Ms Curry's husband, David Curry, made an appeal on Tuesday for anyone who may have seen something to contact police.

"I, and my kids, we just want her to come home," he said.

"Lisa, if you're out there, can you please just contact us, if anyone's seen anything, please just contact us."
