Police hope to come out on top as struggling sides clash

Poilice Tero players take part in a training session.

Police Tero hope to claim three points from their Thai League 1 home game against struggling Nongbua Pitchaya on Friday.

The match will be played at Boonyajinda Stadium and will kick off at 7pm.

The Fire Dragons are currently ranked eighth with 12 points from 10 matches, while Nongbua Pitchaya are pinned to the foot of the table with only four points.

Police Tero coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok told a pre-match news conference yesterday that his team were ready to go all out for a win at their home ground.

"We are lucky that we don't have any suspended players and will have Sorawit Panthong back from injury as well, so we are ready for the game.

"We are eight points ahead of Nongbua which is not a big margin, so we are not yet sure about our presence in the top flight at the end of the season.

"We did not start the season well and also occupied the bottom spot for some time like Nongbua.

"They [Nongbua] are also in a difficult position so we can expect a tough fight from them."

Nongbua Pitchaya director Teerawekin Sihawong said: "We respect our coaching staff and have handed them all the decision-making powers with regards to the team.

"I think our staff coaches are quite motivated and every player has the faith that we will eventually avoid the drop.

"In the past four matches, we were up against the big teams but were still able to claim some points from them.

"Our next few games will be against teams which are at the same level as us so we are hoping to earn some more points.

"We have started planning for the second leg of the tournament and hope to put on better show."
