Police help 'straggler' trying to walk 65 miles home from Boomtown

Boomtown Festival has developed a reputation as one of the craziest music festivals on the planet.

The annual event, which is currently underway at Hampshire's Matterly Estate, is a sprawling pop-up city with stages dotted all over the place.

This means there is a lot of walking involved for the 65,000 revellers or so in attendance, as well as a lot of dancing, of course.

But despite this, one man still had enough energy left to try and walk all the way home to London - more than 60 miles away - according to police.

Boomtown: Chapter 10 - The Machine Cannot be Stopped (Charlie Raven)

Hampshire Response Cops posted on social media to say that they helped a 'straggler' who was heading home to the capital after picking him up on the A34 and dropping him off at a nearby train station.

The tweet reads: "Just saved a straggler from Boomtown, walking on the A34 northbound attempting to walk back to London.

"Scooped up and taken to the train station."

The annual extravaganza, which is organised in Bristol, is one of the most visually-staggering festivals on the planet

Since making its debut in 2009, the event has grown massively and combines a diverse lineup with a twisting storyline which develops every year, unfolding before the eyes of bewildered attendees.

Each chapter in the tale has seen the addition of new characters and stages, including Banghai Palace and Sector 6, which both need to be seen in the flesh to be believed.

And we will get a slice of Boomtown right here in Bristol later this year in the form of a new events space at their industrial HQ on Albert Road.

The 3,500-capacity venue, which was , will host a maximum of 24 event days per calendar year, with the licence initially running from October 1, 2019 until September 30, 2022.
