Police help 'straggler' trying to walk 65 miles home after a festival

Around 65,000 music fans enjoyed the Boomtown Fair Festival last weekend - and one reveller may have enjoyed it a bit too much as he was picked up by local police trying to walk more than 60 miles to get home.

The annual event, which is held Hampshire's Matterly Estate, is a sprawling pop-up city with dozens of stages hosting all kinds of acts all encouraging their audience to boogie into the early hours, reports Bristol Live.

Despite this, one festival-goer was caught by police walking on the A34 ‘attempting to get to London’.

Hampshire Response Cops posted on social media to say that they helped a 'straggler' who was heading home to the capital after picking him up on the A34 and dropping him off at a nearby train station.

The tweet reads: "Just saved a straggler from Boomtown, walking on the A34 northbound attempting to walk back to London.

"Scooped up and taken to the train station."

The annual bash is organised in Bristol and is considered one of the most visually-staggering festivals in the country.

Starting in 2009, the event continues to grow, combining a diverse lineup with a twisting storyline which develops every year, unfolding before the eyes of bewildered attendees.

Each chapter in the tale sees the addition of new characters and stages, including Banghai Palace and Sector 6.

Hopefully ‘the straggler’ eventually made it home in one piece.
