Police helicopters and coast guards launch search after mystery clothes bundle left near Gower cave

A large-scale search has been mounted after clothing was spotted near a cave at a popular climbers' site.

South Wales Police were notified that items had been found on rocks at Paviland Cave, Gower , on the afternoon of Sunday, September 8.

An extensive search was carried out by specialist search officers, as well as the police helicopter team, and HM Coastguard.

It's believed the area is known to climbers as Juniper Wall.

Neighbouring police forces have also been contacted to check the clothing does not match the descriptions of those worn by current reported missing people.

How to call for emergency help at sea

Rhossili Coastguards posted on Facebook that they had joined in an intensive search around the area on Sunday, but nothing was located.

They were scrambled back to the area yesterday to continue the search.

Anyone who believes the items – a dark jacket, thermal trousers, shoes and a water bottle – belong to them is asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1900332085.
