Police helicopter scrambled after four people scale roof of fire-damaged O2 ABC venue in Glasgow

Police had to intervene after four people climbed onto the roof of the fire-damaged O2 ABC venue on Sauchiehall Street last night.

The dramatic incident occurred around 10:45pm, and saw the attendance of a police helicopter to assist officers.

A dramatic image, taken from the police helicopter, shows four people on the roof of the venue, which has been derelict since the Glasgow School of Art fire caused severe damage back in June of 2018.

The tweet read: "Police Helicopter assisting Glasgow City Centre Police and Police Scotland Control Rooms with 4 people climbing on the roof of fire damaged nightclub Campus, Sauchiehall Street. All 4 safe and with Police."

Video footage sent to Glasgow Live showed at least six police cars in attendance on Sauchiehall Street and nearby Scott Street in respect of the incident.

Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
