Police helicopter over Glasgow: suspect tracked down after chase through south side

A vehicle was pursued by officers through Glasgow's south side in an early morning police chase.

Helicopters from the force's Air Support unit supported the pursuit of the vehicle earlier today (February 25). Police Scotland have confirmed the suspect was located by officers.

The initial incident when the vehicle failed to stop for officers occurred at 1.40am this morning on Nithsdale Road. It led to road policing officers pursuing the vehicle, when it was traced a short time later unoccupied on Milnpark Gardens.

With assistance from the Air Support Unit, the driver was traced close by and has been charged in connection with road traffic offences. Nobody was injured in the incident.

A statement from the force's Twitter page reads: "Police helicopter assisted colleagues @GreaterGlasgPol @polscotrpu following a vehicle pursuit in the south side of Glasgow earlier this morning. Suspect involved was located by the crew hiding from police."
