Police helicopter manhunt launched as knife fight breaks out at Leeds pub

Police were called to a report of men fighting with knives at a Hunslet pub last night.

A police helicopter was called out to assist and was spotted hovering over the Garden Gate pub in Whitfield Place shortly before 10pm.

Officers arrived at the pub to find the men involved had already fled the scene.

They closed Whitfield Place while they investigated and found one man who had been attacked but not seriously injured.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 9.45pm yesterday, police were called to an incident at the Garden Gate pub, in Whitfield Place, Hunslet, with initial reports of males armed with knives.

"Officers were deployed to the scene, supported by the National Police Air Service helicopter, and found the suspects had left and there was no confirmation of weapons having been involved.

"One man reported being assaulted but was not seriously injured."
