KANSAS CITY, Mo. _ A Kansas City, Mo., police helicopter made an emergency landing in the middle of Independence Avenue in the city's Northeast neighborhood Wednesday night.

The helicopter landed near Independence and Spruce avenues shortly before 9 p.m. It was forced to land because of a mechanical problem, police said.

The helicopter landed upright and no injuries were reported.

A tow truck carried the helicopter away from the scene shortly after 11 p.m.
