Police helicopter dispatched to Ayrshire village after report of a 'concern for person'

A Police Scotland helicopter conducted a search over the village of Coylton last night - after receiving "a report of a concern for person".

The force chopper scanned the area for a person late last night, officials confirmed.

The aircraft scoured the village area for more than five minutes — just after 11pm.

It was seen flying roughly above the Woodhead Road area and then heading over fields up towards the church before leaving the neighbourhood.

Officers confirmed that the person related to the operation was traced later that evening.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “This was in relation to a report of a concern for person call received by police. The person in question was traced a short time later.”

Police did not release further details on the incident.
