Police helicopter called in over Cowdenbeath to search for stolen quad bike

Police have recovered a stolen quad bike after several police vehicles and the force helicopter were seen in a Scots village.

Worried locals reported a large presence in the Cowdenbeath area of Fife at around 5.30pm on Friday.

The Police Scotland helicopter was seen hovering above houses in the small village while multiple marked police vehicles were seen patrolling around several streets.

Investigators have confirmed they had carried out an operation in the Hill of Beath area to recover a stolen bike which was taken from Carluke in South Lanarkshire.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers have been following a positive line of enquiry in the Hill of Beath area of Cowdenbeath, following the theft of a quad bike from a property in the Yieldshields Road area of Carluke, which is believed to have taken place overnight.

“The bike has now been successfully recovered and further enquiries are ongoing.”
